Excellent named pair of  RAF 1940 pattern flying boots.

Outstanding pair of 1940 pattern flying boots. Brown suede with rubberized coating around the shoe section and thick shearling lining. Not to be confused with the 1941 pattern, which are identical except for the addition of a leather strap around the ankle (because the boots were loose fitting and found to come off easily during a parachute descent). These are in excellent condition, showing very little wear. Original soles and heels, A-crown-M marked zips in good working order, leather tongues with crisp Air Ministry markings and size 8, with inked name inside: Bodien. The black rubberized coating, often hardened and breaking away, remains flexible. A lovely example.

RAF 1941 Pattern flying gauntlets, near perfect match, unissued condition.

Superb pair of 1941 Pattern flying gauntlets and an almost perfect match (only the zips and linings differ). Both are size 9-1/2 with crisp A-crown-M markings. Lovely soft chestnut brown leather with lighter leather linings and good working zips. These appear to be unissued and unworn and would be very difficult to upgrade.

RCAF log book to a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner  (WAG) 158 squadron (Halifax III) with  26 ops.

Late war log book to a RCAF Wireless Operator/Air Gunner (WAG) with 158 squadron flying the Halifax III. S.A. Vernon flew 26 ops to extremely dangerous German targets including Cologne, Essen, Dortmund, Magdeburg, Stuttgart etc. from December 1944 until April 1945. With the war almost over, Allied night bombing missions became more and more hazardous, with a high risk of ill-treatment if shot down and captured and possible mobbing by civilians. A very good representative log book from one of the lucky ones who survived.

RCAF/RAF 1932 pattern life saving waistcoat (Mae West) in yellow fabric.

Yellow version of the famed 1932 pattern life saving waistcoat (Mae West). Made in Canada by Dominion Rubber Co. but marked with both RAF and RCAF stores ref. numbers, suggesting these were held in stores in the UK as well as Canada. The 1932 pattern is one of the most difficult items to source and UK made green examples have been known to fetch five figure prices. This example is in very good condotion, clean and bright, with good working zip, all buttons in place, leg tapes and dinghy connection ring in place. Ink stamped instructions are clearly legible on the left and right lobes. These are now very difficult to find.

Superb, early production RAF Mk VIII goggles, unworn.

Excellent example of the RAF Mk VIII goggles. These appear to have never been worn! Perfect, clean leather pads with suede backing, rolled-edge frames retaining 99.9% original blue-grey paint, strap retaining full elasticity. Beautiful crisp A-crown-M stamp on the leather behind the bridge, together with the stores ref. number 22C/930. Clear lenses with very little sign of delamination. Minor oxidation to the metal fittings on the strap. The bridge hinge comprises a rectangular wire loop rather than the stamped metal connector which is believed to indicate early production. Just superb!

Classic Rayban sunglasses designed and produced by Bausch and Lomb and preferred by so many AAF aviators in WWII. Scarce RAF issue "Short Sea Boot Stockings" dated 1942.

Rare accessory for the serious collector of RAF flying kit. "Stockings, Sea Boot, Short" were Air Ministry issue as an alternative to the previously available "Stockings, Sea Boot" often seen during the Battle of Britain. Cream coloured heavy wool socks are well marked and dated 1942. Appear unworn with a couple of small snags but no serious damage. Far more scarce than the full length type and soon replaced by "Aircrew Stockings, Black." Sizing 1-3 was exclusively Air Ministry parlance.

MT (Motor Transport) goggles used by RAF, Army and Royal Navy.

Often misrepresented as RAF Mk II flying goggles, because of their similar shaped lenses, but actually issued to drivers, despatch riders and military vehicle crews throughout the British forces. Very good, clean condition, good strap, clear lenses and nice leather surround.

RAF Mk VIII flying goggles

While these goggles do not have the rolled edge we like to see to conform wartime production, they tick just about every other box: brass frames painted blue grey; high padded shoulders; 3-piece suede lined cushions joined by webbing tapes; all point to 1940s manufacture. They show use and wear but no damage and display well. But no guarantees and priced accordingly.

USN or AAF AN6540 flying helmet fully wired with ANB-H-1 receivers and Polaroid B-8 goggles.

The AN6540 series of helmets were intended for both Army and navy Air Force use, but were largely rejected by the Army in favour of their A-11. This example may have been an exception that saw AAF use, being fitted with ANB-H-1 receivers and coming with a AAF marked set of B-8 goggles. These have been together for a long time. Shows use and some minor wear/scuffing to leather; goggles are good with pliable rubber but the edge securing the strap in place has broken away, although this does not affect the security or fit of the goggles. Nice to find a good used set and sold together.

FANTASTIC RNZAF Stirling pilot's log book with history. 15 ops. Shot down—evasion—capture—POW in Stalagluft III (The Great Escape).

Well-researched and documented. Superb and extremely rare, historic bomber pilot's log book to Charles S. Lyons, RNZAF 10 sq. (Stirling III) with connection to Stalagluft III (Sagan). Lyons completed 15 ops including Munich, Nuremburg, Berlin, Essen, Kiel, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, before being shot down by Luftwaffe night fighter ace Hermann Müller. Crash-landed near Vejle in Denmark. He and his crew evaded capture with help from locals, but was eventually captured and sent to Stalagluft III (Sagan). He was there during The Wooden Horse escape and The Great Escape. Comes with Lyons’ original (superb) RNZAF pilot wing and dog tag, both of which he wore throughout his imprisonment in Sagan, plus extensive research on the crash and eventual capture of Lyons and his crew, including first hand accounts by witnesses and locals with 16 photographs (copies) of the crash site. A rare log book with amazing history.

Excellent reproduction RAF "Frock, White" by What Price Glory, size XL.

Excellent copy of a WWII Seaman's jersey (known in RAF parlance as "frock, white"). The issued RAF version had a shorter collar rather than the roll-neck but in all aspects they were otherwise identical – and RAF pilots and crews were definitely known to have worn this Royal/Merchant Navy version. What Price Glory is known for its high quality workmanship with all WWII reproduction and this is no exception. 100% wool, undyed, and overall excellent condition with no wear or damage — plus it is an XL size. Perfect for re-enactors or for any RAF or FAA aircrew display — or for wearing on those cold winter days!

RAF officer's service dress gloves – often worn while flying.

Butter-soft leather gloves with a knit lining. These gloves were usually purchased by officers from the same tailor where they bought their service dress and parade uniform, permitted by KR for wear when gloves were required and appropriate. They were also frequently worn while flying, preferred over the issue flying gauntlets. Lovely pair in excellent condition. The press stud/snap fasteners at the wrist are maker marked to Newey Brothers.

One of the more rare wartime USN and USMC flying helmets, because so few were produced. It was the final version of the AN6540 series, made to the same pattern as earlier cotton and leather types, but from green nylon, intended to be lighter and more comfortable. In the end it proved to be a fire hazard; the nylon not being flame retardant, it meted and caused serious burns and the type was phased out in favour of a modified design in flame-retardant material. This version did however see limited service during the war. This example is in excellent condition, fitted with the correct ANB-H-1A Navy receivers and braided cord with plastic sealed connectors. These do not come along very often.

AAF AN6530 flying goggles with amber lenses.

Decent displayable set of AN6530 flying goggles as used by both the USAAF and USN from 1943 until the end of the war. Good frames with no dings or dents, just a little surface oxidation. Nice amber lenses with no damage. Rubber cushion is in fair to good condition, clean, intact and still flexible, but slightly stiff with some surface spider cracks. Chamois backing shows light use. Decent strap retains most of its elasticity. Not for wearing but perfectly good for displaying.

Extremely rare Luftwaffe rigger made flare strap/

bandolier with flares.

The Luftwaffe used a lot of signal flares for communication/rescue purposes to avoid radio use, consequently most pilots carried a fairly extensive selection of coloured flares; some in the pocket of the Channel suit trousers, often supplemented by a bandolier around the waist or the leg. Early examples were "rigger" made by ground crews before an official pattern was established and issued. This is an example of an early, improvised bandolier containing 7 flares. Made from canvas webbing and leather. It contains a full complement of original flare cartridges, all in great condition. A rare and remarkable find.

US M1936 pistol belt with leather holster for Smith and Wesson .38.

Very good used example of the standard GI issue M1936 pistol belt. fitted with a leather holster for the .38 Smith and Wesson "Victory" revolver. The belt is grubby and stained but would clean up if desired. It is marked U.S. and has a name, "James M. Pulliam" inked on it. The holster is not marked that I can see, and is in very good condition with great age patina. One of many types often worn by AAF aviators on ops and makes a great display.

AAF officer's true "50 mission crusher" - Air Force Commander styled by Willis. Named inside.

Perhaps the most beautiful example of a "true" crusher (specially made to roll/fold up to fit in the pocket of a flying suit) I have ever seen. Green gabardine cap with OD mohair band, yellow silk lining with its sweatshield still in place, butter-soft leather peak in fabulous condition, completely flexible and rolls up tightly, leather front and rear chin-straps and oversized gilt cap badge. Vented leather sweatband is marked "E-Z Cushion Aniline Finish" and cap is marked "Air Force Commander styled by Willis." Size 7-1/8 and named by punching holes in the sweatband to read "Welnicki" - possibly Polish-American? An absolutely lovely cap which would display very well with the aircrew headset above.

Incredibly rare RAF log book to Royal Artillery Air Observation Pilot, DFC winner. Flights from D-Day throughout Normandy campaign.

Flying log book of Major A.J. Nicolson, DFC 652 AOP Squadron - Pilots log covers D-Day to end of war and up until 1949 Nicholson was one of very few Army pilots awarded the D.F.C. While most of his operational flying was in Austers, he also flew several other types, including the rare Cierva C.30 Autogyro. Nicholson flew ops over Normandy with 652 sq. from June 6 onwards, directing fire and observing hits from ships attacking the landing grounds, an incredibly dangerous job—especially in unarmed aircraft! He also flew sorties over and into French territory throughout the invasion and occupation of France. He took command of 659 Squadron on 24th Feb 1945 and went to India as their CO in Oct 1945. He ferried Generals and other ranking officers from base to base and over the front lines to see for themselves the effectiveness of artillery attacks. Includes 3 large photos of Auster and Taylorcraft and other documentation plus Nicholson’s RA shoulder tabs and 2x 1948-pattern RA mess dress pilot wings (though post war, Nichoslon, will have been one of the first AOC pilots to receive these wings)

RAF MkIIIA flying goggles, Battle of Britain type, in excellent condition.

Excellent set of Mk IIIA goggles of the type worn by most fighter pilots during the Battle of Britain. Condition is exceptional, with good clear lenses, blackened brass frames, fabric and leather strap with built in springs retaining their full tension. Velvet padding is quite stiff but there is no wear or damage. Superb, crisp marking to strap with A-crown-M property mark and a date of 1937. These would actually be quite difficult to uprade.

RARE early yellow silk-covered stole for the Harnessuit, 1941 pattern life vest.

An excellent and rare example of the early production gas-inflated stole (or bladder) as used in the GQ Harnessuit or Parasuit as well as the stole-inflated life saving waistcoat (commonly known as 1941 pattern Mae West). These early models were covered with yellow silk to protect the rubber—this was later used only in tropical climates and the temperate models were made from rubberized cotton. Fantastic condition, with no wear or damage, completely pliable with a good oral inflation tube and valve. Well marked with A-crown-M proof and testing dates of 1941 and 1944.

Early RAF stole lever mechanism and inflation cylinder for the Harnessuit and 1941 pattern Mae West.

Extremely difficult to find. This is the lever mechanism to activate the CO2 cartridge inflation system for the GQ Harnessuit and Stole Inflated Life Saving Waistcoat (aka 1941 Pattern Mae West). Perfect for the stole listed above. Excellent condition, early production (without the additional collar around the shoulder of the lever) and comes with the rare 2-part CO2 cylinder. Nice clear A-crown-M property mark on the chrome-plated lever and als includes the circlip for securing the mechanism into the stole.

RARE US Army Air Corps Type A9 oxygen mask, complete and including "Juliet" head strap.

The first US mask designed to be used with a "demand" regulator, now very scarce. An excellent example showing no use or wear; soft pliable rubber mask and hose with webbing straps and including the hard-to-find "Julliet" strap which secured the mask under the flying helmet and enabled the mask to be worn with a headset instead of a helmet. Clean, well marked, retaining the nosewire and all fittings.
