Scarce Great War Royal Flying Corps cowl type flying helmet.
Now harder than ever to find, these cowl type helmets were issued to all RFC pilots and aircrews, though they are said to have been favoured by gunners who had to stand up in their turrets and were exposed to cold air - however photgraphs show they were also worn extensively by pilots of both figher (scout ) aircarft and bombers. In overall great display condition, the leather is very good, although it could probably use some dressing. The chamois lining is also good and the War Dept issue stamp can be seen, though faintly, inside. The fur area has moulted, as is common, and the skin shows some minor insect damage, but this doesn't show when displayed. The helmet retains it's earflaps and original chin strap and nuckle. The padded cylinders were clearly removed at the time (as was common practice - they were found to be useless at deflecting sound and actually caused more noise from vibrating). The keather is evenly faded around their stitch holes showing this was definitely a period modification. A very scarce helmet in good to very good condiiton.

RARE 1942 dated Luftwaffe rubberized linen night bombing target map of Aberdeen and Peterhead, Scotland.
Small scale map measures 53 cm x 43 cm (23" x 17") printed in colour on brght yellow rubberized linen. Single-sided in outstanding condition, very clean and no folds or pin holes as are usually found. These were carried in night bombing aircraft - the yellow background and bright features showing up well under red cockpit lighting. Being waterproof they could also be used for sailing / navigation in the event of ditching or baling out at sea. Maps shows depths of North Sea off the coast of Scotland as well as major targets on the northern Scottish coast. Aberdeen was bombed very badly in April 1943 by waves of Luftwaffe bombers coming from bases in Norway. These target maps are quite rare and highly sought after accessories and make attractive displays alongside Luftwaffe flying kit.

RAF Sherry glasses from the officers' mess.
A matching set of four sherry glasses from an RAF officer's mess, dating from c.1930 to WWII. Excellent condition with no cracks or chips and etched RAF crest. Would prefer to sell as a set, since all are matched, but if no interest will split and sell individually.

RAF egg cup from the officers' mess.
Eggs were a very rare commodity back in WWII and reserved only for those flying on ops. (everyone else had to make do with powdered eggs). Imagine arriving back at dawn after a long night raid and being able to enjoy a soft boiled egg - it was quite a luxury. This egg cup is exquisite: bone china made by Aynsley, with a blue glaze, gold leaf trim and RAF crest lithographed in blue. No cracks, chips or damage - perfect condition.

US Army WWI enlisted man's breeches.
WWI era US Army enlisted man's wool breeches in superb condition. OD wool with button fly, all buttons marked US Army, and retaining linen label to back of waist detailing size 36" waist and 27" inseam. Lack only the laces for tying up the bottom of the legs. It would be hard to find a pair in better condition, especially in such a large size.

AAF officer's uniform matching jacket and trousers, both named to same officer and both from same tailor.
Excellent example of a WWII AAF officer's uniform jacket and trousers, both from the same tailor and both named to the same officer, A. Wayne Wood, dated January 1943. He was a captain and there is a lovely set of bullion embroidered captain's bars on each shoulder, plus 4 overseas stripes on the left sleeve. Perfect matching dark green (almost chocolate) gabardine wool, with buttons and collar insignia in place. Very high quality tailoring - this would have been an expensive uniform in its day, showing only very light wear. Rare to find matching jacket and trousers.

AAF officer cadet uniform jacket.
This style of uniform, light olive green with the built-in belt, was worn by officer cadets in WWII - a throwback to the style officers wore in the early 1930s. This is a nice example, named to James Ware and dated 4/43. Label in the neck reads "Made to Measure by Kahn Tailoring of Indianapolis" but a second label over the inside pocket reads "The Model Shop, Deluxe Tailoring Dept. Odessa, Texas" as does the named label inside the pocket. Most of the buttons have been removed but are included in the pocket. Collar insignia are present as is a nice felt AAF shoulder patch. Shows only light wear and no damage.

AAF 8th Air Force enlisted service dress uniform jacket, possibly English made.
An absolutely superb AAF 8th Air Force enlisted service dress jacket with stripes for First Sergeant and 8th Air Force shoulder patch, as well as AAF brass collar disks. Though I can find no label, I am tempted to suggest it might be English made because of the colour and fabric which is closer to the British army battledress khaki serge. An outstanding jacket, with 2 or 3 very minor moth nips, the largest on the epaulette (see photos). Marked as a size 36R.

WWII AAF Far East Air Forces enlisted tunic.
OD wool tunic for an enlisted man with sergeant's stripes, overseas stripes and a wound stripe, plus US 6th Army patch to right sleeve and Far East Air Force patch to left sleeve. Air Corps collar badges and the "Ruptured Duck" patch complete the insignia. Jacket is in great condition, with a number inked inside and a stamping for NY City Patrol Corps - perhaps suggesting the uniform was later worn by a security organization?

WWI US Air Service aviation cadet visor cap.
Superb example of a WWI era US Air Service aviation cadet's visor cap. This cap is in beautiful condition, made from coarse knit olive wool, light brown leather peak and chin strap with bronze buttons, and a superb bronze cadet cap badge. Green checkerboard pattern on underside of peak. There are two very small moth nips, one on either side, on the lower side of the crown of the cap which cannot be seen when displayed. Cotton lined with a black oilcloth sweat band - no visible maker's markings or label.

Good WWII AAF officer cadet's uniform jacket.
Nice WWII AAF officer cadet's uniform jacket in very good condition, showing light use. Original insignia fitted and unmessed with. Retains both sets of collar devices (one clutch missing), AAF shoulder patch to upper left sleeve and aviation cadet patch to lower right sleeve. Sewn-down mock belt with no buckle. This is the same style as worn by officers in the 1920s (I'm guessing to accommodate the Sam Browne?) so perhaps these were reissued or pulled from existing inventory? Appears to have a name inked in and service number - name now obliterated and illegible. Various other handwriting inside as shown in the pictures.

3rd AF enlisted airman's OD jacket with ID.
Excellent enlisted man's OD wool tunic with 3rd AF shoulder patch, sergeant's stripes, collar insignia and "ruptured duck". In excellent condition showing very light wear. As with most enlisted uniforms it is not names but does have a number inside. However, inside the top pocket were several forms of ID naming it to Braxton P. Gordon, at various ranks from corporal to sergeant to captain - so he was evidently commissioned in the field. Hard to beat for condition.

WWII AAF named Second Lieutenant's khaki service uniform MAAF.
Very good example of the khaki/summer weight overseas uniform jacket named to a Lieutenant serving with the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces. Good period winged props, US devices and "butter bar" insignia plus a nice MAAF shoulder patch. Clear evidence of a clutch back wing having been fitted. Named to James Morrison on the laundry tag pinned inside. I can find one pinhead sized moth nip in the shoulder (practically invisible). Jacket displays nicely and would be worthy of research.

Army Air Corps officer's 1930s uniform, named to a Major.
Interesting and unusual early Army Air Corps officer's uniform. Olive Drab gabardine wool with built-in belt, gilt buttons and a lovely pair of early winged propellor collar devices. Sadly all other insignia removed, though the impression of there they were is clear. Inside are two labels, one to the tailor in san Antoio, Texas, and the other a standard union label with the name of the office, which appears to be a major, though the last name is worn and difficult to read. Jacket is dusty, slightly grubby and has a few moth nips, but is definitely worthy of careful study and research. The lining is intriguing and appears at first glance to have been removed, yet it is neatly finished and sows no cutting or damage - it might even have had a button-in section. The winged props alone are worth most of the asking price.

WWII WAC Medic tunic, named and ID'd to Selman Field, training field for WASPs.
Far less common than men's uniforms, women's uniforms are identical except for the cut and the fact that they button left-over-right. This is a lovely example of a WAC medic tunic, with medical collar devices, major's rank insignia and felt AAF patch with Training Command shoulder flash. Named inside to E.B. McBee with her service number and Selman Field Exchange. Also has a fabulous personal monogram with the initials E.M. Selman Field was a training field for navigators and also for WASP pilots so it would make perfect sense for a female medic to be posted there. This is well worth further research. Excellent condition and quite scarce.

AAF Glider Pilot / Troop Carrier 4-pocket tunic, named with fantastic bullion Glider Pilot wing.
USAAF officer's style 4-pocket tunic, made in San Antonio and named to James B. Reed who must have bought the uniform while training at Hondo, Texas, Class 44-8. Lovely bullion glider pilot wing and felt AAF shoulder patch, plus 1st Troop Carrier DIs on both epaulettes together with enamel Flight Officer "blue pickle" insignia. Once he completed his training and graduated as a Glider pilot he will have received a commission so to find a tunic still with the "blue pickles" and the wing attached is quite unusual. Some moth damage to left lower sleeve and skirt of tunic which does not detract too much. Definitely worth researching.

Lovely example of a transitional AAF to USAF green uniform for an officer who flew in WWII with the 12th Reconnaissance Squadron.
OD gabardine wool 4 pocket tunic, tailored in 1949 (2 years after the AAF became the USAF and were supposed to change to wearing blue!). Has a superb WWII bullion embroidered bombardier wing, 20th AF shoulder patch and matched pair of 12 Recon. Sqdn. DIs (pinback, by Dondero of Washington DC). Has USAF buttons but in gold instead of silver. Very large size, named inside to Lt. Applebaum. All WWII insignia (except the buttons).
