INCREDIBLE grouping to USMC fighter ace Greg "Pappy" Boyington and Japanese fighter pilot Masajiro Kawato including rare jacket patch owned by Boyington.
Greg "Pappy" Boyington was the best known USMC ace fighter pilot of WW2 - so well known they even made a TV series about him (Black Sheep Squadron). He flew with the AVG Flying Tigers, won the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross. With 26 kills, Boyington led the Black Sheep Squadron until he was shot down in January 1944 and captured by the Japanese. he spent the rest of the war in a POW camp. Masajiro "Mike" Kawato was involved in the dogfight in which Boyington was shot down and always claimed it was he who shot down the marine Corps ace. This grouping comprises: signed and dedicated first edition of Boyington's autobiography "Baa Baa Black Sheep"; signed and dedicated second printing (paperback) of Kawato's autobiography; signed print of the combat showing Kawato shooting down Boyington's Corsair; The jewel in the crown of the grouping is an original squadron patch of VMF214 which was owned by Boyington. This comes with a letter of provenance from the International Aerospca eHall of Fame stating that it was given to them by Boyington's widow. The patch is in unused condition. A superb grouping to a remarkable man.

617 Squadron Dambusters Lancaster print signed by 15 members of the squadron who flew on Operation "Chastise" in WWII – PLUS Sir Arthur "Bomber" Harris and Leonard Cheshire (17 historic signatures altogether)
An amazing piece of history. Let me begin by stating that what you are buying here are the signatures, not the art. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful aircraft profile by well known aviation artist Keith Bloomfield (drawn for the RAF Museum), but the print shows evidence of water damage, and some of the signatures, which were executed in ink using fountain pens, have faded with time. It was like this when I acquired it many years ago. I have had this framed and on my wall and it displays very nicely. Under glass, the water damage hardly shows; it's just a little light water marking along the bottom edge with a little surface bubbling to the paper in the bottom right hand corner. It does not affect the print, nor the signatures (those have faded from exposure to light and time). The signatures read like a who's who of Bomber Command heroes: David Shannon, Willy Tait, Harold Hobday, Douglas Webb, William Reid, Bill Townsend, Geoff Rice, Basil Feneron, Toby Foxlee, Leonard Cheshire, D. Heal , Ray Grayston, W. Howarth, Len Sumpter, G.E. Johnson, George Chalmers and Arthur Harris.
Reid, Townsend, Tail and Feneron signatures are slightly faded but perfectly legible. Arthur Harris' signature has faded badly. It can still be seen but barely - but it is there.
George Johnson is the only surviving Dambuster.

Reflector Gunsight Glass from Spitfire flown by RAF Polish Ace Jan Falkowski.
Fantastic piece of history! This is the glass oval from the reflector gusight in a Spitfire flown by RAF Polish Ace and Battle of Britain pilot Jan Falkowski, complete with provenance including personal letters from Falkowski concernng the glass and all original packing material. The glass had been broken and he wanted to replace it, so another historian arranged for a replacement piece in exchange for the original pieces. These pieces have been rassembled carefully (like a jigsaw puzzle) though one small piece is missing. Imagine what Falkowski saw through this glass! I have it displayed in a small shadow box (it looks great) but it will be removed and carefully packed for shipping. This lot includes multiple original signatures. I will also send buyer more photos i electronic form. Falkowski flew with 32 squadron in the Battle of Britain, then the famed 303 squadron among others, finally commanding the 3rd Polish Wiing. He received the DFC and top Polish awards and ended the war as a POW. He moved to Canada after the war and ran a flying school.

Art print "Portrait of Poland" by Arnold Hodgkins and signed by WWII Polish RAF Ace Jan Falkowski.
The painting was produced to commemorate the release of Falkowski's book "With the Wind in My Face" and was reproduced as a frontispiece in the book. Falkowski was one of the most famous Polish RAF Ace fighter pilots. He arrived in the United Kingdom on 27 June 1940 and was assigned to No. 32 Squadron RAF. He shot down his first plane on 16 January 1941. During the battle, his plane was badly damaged, Falkowski had to jump with a parachute and broke his leg on landing. After treatment he was sent to the No. 315 Polish Fighter Squadron. In August 1941 he downed three Bf 109s over France. In September he scored two victories. He also served in No. 316 Polish Fighter Squadron and No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron. On 30 January 1945 he was named commander of the 3rd Polish Fighter Wing. On 9 March 1945, he was hit by flak, bailed out and was fired upon by the Germans. One of the bullets wounded him in the leg and he was taken POW. Falkowkis had a limited number of prints produced from Hidgkins painting which he mostly gave away to friends. I have two available - one signed and one unsigned. Will be sent rolled up, ready to frame. 59cm (23") x 45cm (18").
